Back on again!!

WOW! A lot has changed in our lives since our last post! Grayson turned 3 in March AND we added another member to our family! Miss Allie J came into this world on May 10th. Due to some placental clotting issues, Allie weighed 3 lbs 13 oz and was 16 1/2 inches long and came via emergency C-section. From the first moment I saw her, I knew she was a fighter, but a complete sweetheat!

Funny story about Allie's birth: As Allie was being delivered, the anesthesiologist (male), who was behind my head, said "He's here!", as Allie was coming out. Having a ultrasound early on to determine the sex of the baby, and hearing it was a girl then, I was shocked, and immediately said, "IT'S A BOY?!?!" Apparently, he hadn't seen that part yet, and used the wrong term. It took about 4 nurses to assure me that it was in fact a girl and then me seeing for myself before I completely believe Allie was a girl! :)

Due to her small size, Allie had to stay in the NICU at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for 3 weeks. We were initially expecting her to be there for approximately 2 weeks, but due to an infection that developed in her leg at an old IV site, we had to stay for extra week for an antibotic treatment. Needless to say, this was one of the most stressful 3 weeks of our lives. It was very difficult to maintain a balance of being at the hospital with Allie and spending time with Grayson at home. Gray was a trooper during this time. Although he really wanted to see Allie (he wasn't able to go into the NICU), he understood that our lives weren't always going to be like that and held strong through it all. It may have helped that he was getting pretty spoiled at home by all his Nema's and Papa's!

Allie has grown like a champ since she's been home. She now weighs 9 lbs 9 oz and is just over 21 inches long! She has the sweetest demeanor and is a very very good baby! She was smiling early on, consistently by 2 months and gigling, talking (cooing and gooing) consistently by 3 months. Just the other day (3 1/2 months) she rolled over and is consistently doing this when placed on her tummy (she doesn't like tummy time!) For about 2 weeks (minus a few nights), she has been sleeping through the night - consistently going to bed at 9 pm and waking up between 5 and 6 am! She loves playing on the floor and is perfectly content to chill by herself and just look around. She's completely enthralled in big brother Grayson! When he plays by her, she follows him like a hawk! She loves her big brother very very much! She has completely stolen our hearts!

I have just gone back to work, so Allie is now at Green Gables with Gray. It is very hard to be back at work, but I know she is in good hands! She's been doing great so far. Not that I expected any different from her! :)

Pictures soon to follow - I promise!!!
